Some State Athletics results from James T.

Hello Mr Robinson

Well, day two of state athletics has come to conclusion, and here are the results so far...that I know of.

James Thomas
3000: 5th, 9:16 (time)
1500: 6th (heat), 4:23
(Both huge PBs and I did say I was aiming for top 5 in the 3000 metres)

Ellen Thomas the destroyer:
800: Just missed finals, very impressive performance.
1500: Truly beastly, didn't quite make finals, but very firm performance for a triathlete.

Mania Konopka
800: Reserve for finals, heart-stopping race.
400: Reserve for finals, exhilarating to say the least.

Jaymee-the-one-and-only-Ericson:
3000: Amazing race, truly inspirational performance, 20th placing and what a brilliant athlete!
1500: I didn't have any fingernails left after watching this one, missed finals by a smidgen.

These are all the performances I know of so far, I also know Michael Logan and Jordan Smith competed, but didn't get their results...Sorry.

Attached is a picture of me  running the 1500.

Yours in Athletics
James Thomas

Learn to Row 2016...From Mr Parsons

Dear Interested Rowing Students – Learn to Row 2016
Learn to Row is being conducted this year, starting 29 October through to 19 November. It is a 4 week introductory course which allows students access to rowing techniques via the ergos, spend time on the water, learn the basic principles of rowing, terminology, safety aspects, and of how to carry the boats. If you can make all sessions, that would be great. But if not, 2 sessions would be better than none.
If you are interested and wish to participate, please inform Mr Michael Parsons prior to the first day – 29 October.
Details for the Learn to Row program are as follows:
  • 0900hrs start 1100hrs finish
  • Wk 1 – 3 at the BUCCA Rowing Centre  (this could change)
  • Wk 4 in town at the Rowing Sheds  (this could change)
  • School Sport uniform to be worn
  • Bring Old pair socks

Congratulations all schools Touch team 1 - top 8 in Queensland

Queensland All Schools Touch Football
Since the start of the school year a group of 26 students, under the direction and guidance of Mr Peter Robinson prepared and trained for the Queensland All Schools Touch competition. This competition took place from Wednesday 5 October to Sunday 9 October at White’s Hill, Brisbane.

The exhausting yet exciting week began with all students departing at 4.00 am on Wednesday.
The students were able to execute the necessary skills to defeat many of our opponents. Both the A and B open mixed teams had a week of tough and challenging games against other high schools from around Queensland.

After a couple of desperately close losses the A team finished in the top 8 in Queensland in the open mixed division which consisted of 62 teams.

All members of both teams thoroughly enjoyed themselves and a huge thanks goes to Mr Kersnovske and Mr Sly for stepping up and accompanying both teams on the trip. A special thank you goes to Mrs Higgins for all her hard work in handling the paperwork and managing the teams.

Finally a massive thank you again to Mr Robinson, who, although unable to attend the carnival, not only handpicked and trained all team members, but also designed and organised our team uniforms and secured all the important sponsors.
