Rugby In Japan

Rugby in Japan

The Rugby Boys enjoyed their experience of playing in Japan on the synthetic pitch of Settsu High, Osaka.
They played two games of sevens against Settsu and Senri High. Both of these schools are sports high schools (1000 students in Year 11, 12, and 13) that specialise in Rugby, Soccer, Swimming and Athletics. The boys were defeated in both matches but did display some excellent skill and determination with respect to their forward play and ball control. We went beaten by their superior leg speed and ball handling skills. Both Settsu High and Senri High Rugby Programs include hundreds of boys with training occurring several times per week. A fantastic experience for players and coaches.

The final scores were:
Settsu def SLAS 29-5
Senri def SLAS 27-10

Our MVPs were: Clayton Donovan and Hayden Fitzsimmons

The boys were also involved in an after match function hosted by the coaches of both schools where we exchanged gifts and discussed the finer points of the game.

Yours in Rugby

Mr Johnstone and Mr Loeskow
