BDSSS Swimming Carnival
On Monday night, the St Luke’s students
swam to be the overall and percentage points champions at the Bundaberg
District Swimming Carnival. To cap off winning the carnival, 5 of the students
were named Age Champions.
The girls provided a stellar performance,
ably led by 3 of our age champions: Jaime Krueger, Paris Bell and Julia Baren.
There were many admirable performances from our female athletes, be they
leading from the front or showing great determination. Julia Baren won each of
her races and Jaime Krueger deserves special mention for not only winning each
of her races, but also smashing the carnival records for freestyle,
breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly.
Not to be outdone, the boys started the
charge well with 4 of the teams winning their freestyle relay. Congratulations
goes to Ky Brown and Jordan Smith on being named Age Champions. The boys
certainly matched the girls in their drive to succeed.
A special thanks needs to go to the
students who stepped up and filled places, so that St Luke’s competed in every
single race. These students exemplified the St Luke’s way and are to be
congratulated for their efforts.
Thanks go to Mrs Baren and Mr Robinson for
assisting with the carnival. I would especially like to thank the parents and
the competitors’ siblings for their support and encouragement of the swimmers.
The cheering from the St Luke’s area was incredible and spurred on the
swimmers.
I would like to wish all the competitors
who make it into the Wide Bay team all the best at the State Championships
later this month.
