ROWING - Central Queensland Schools Regatta...From Mr Parsons
Hi all, attached is the draw for the CQ regatta. A reminder to everyone that we also have the canteen roster for Sunday. Thanks to those who have already nominated to help on this day. If you are there on the day can you please drop by the canteen to see if our parents could use extra help, many hands make light work.
Thanks Andrew for looking after boat allocations on the day and a reminder to all parents to please be vigilant with making sure that our rowers respect our equipment. This is of the up most importance. The responsibility of looking after our equipment belongs to all of us.
Good luck to all our rowers and I hope you enjoy the carnival and the opportunity to race in a competitive but encouraging environment.
Regards,
M Parsons

Rowing update from Mr Parsons
Hi all,
attached is an example nomination form that you can use to nominate for the CQ regatta. Also is the membership form if you need to pay the extra money to the club to be able to row on.
There will be a coaches meeting at 5pm this afternoon, so please make sure you have indicated to your coaches if you intend for your child to row on.
Reminder nominations for CQ regatta close tomorrow.
Also, my understanding is that seat fees of $14.50 means $14.50 for every event that you child is nominated in.
It is best if this is done directly with the club, but if you need me to chase anything up, let me know and I'll help you best I can.
At this stage it looks like we will have enough parents (just) to run the canteen at the Regatta but we can always use more help. If you are there on the day, drop into the canteen and see if they need help in between watching the races.
Thanks,

Rowing Level One Coaching Course
Rowing Australia launches Level 1 Online Coaching Course
Rowing Australia is delighted to announce the launch of its Level 1 Online Coaching Course. The education and accreditation program will have full online delivery and support to ensure consistency across the country, as well as providing access for regional and remote coaches.
The simple to navigate online course was created with the invaluable assistance of the University of Queensland and its School of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences, and by an expert panel consisting of Ivan Adlam, Barbara Fenner, Rod Silcox, Vicky Spencer and Rowing Australia’s National Community Development and Education Officer, Ron Batt.
It was funded by a participation grant from the Australian Sports Commission. This online course is accessible to anyone in Australia (except New South Wales who will have access from 1 July*) and has plenty of exciting new content including useful information and tips from current Senior coaches, video tutorials and imagery. After 1 July 2016, this online course will be the only National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) Level 1 Accreditation rowing coach course delivered in Australia (this course was previously known as Learn to Row Coach)**.
The course takes up to four hours to complete but does not have to be completed in one sitting and costs $180 to undertake. The pre-requisites are you must be a minimum of 16-years-old and have completed a free ASC Online Community Coaching General Principles course which can be found here. Once accredited as part of NCAS, coaches are required to renew their accreditation every four years.
Rowing Australia’s National Community Development and Education Officer, Ron Batt said: “This exciting new initiative would not have been possible without the funding and support of the Australian Sports Commission. Rowing Australia is also extremely grateful to the staff at the University of Queensland and its School of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences, the coach review group of Ivan Adlam, Barbara Fenner, Rod Silcox and Vicky Spencer whose expertise helped to create this innovative online coaching course.
“Now any coach can gain their Level 1 accreditation at a time that suits them, and they will all be receiving consistent content which they will be able to review at a later date. This is just the first step in RA offering new coach education resources to the rowing community and we look forward to be able to offer more in the coming months and years.”
To find out more about the Online Course CLICK HERE.
Notes:
* New South Wales coaches may join the scheme after 1 July 2016, until then Rowing New South Wales will run the old course.
** While a participant will receive an NCAS Level 1 Coach Accreditation, a coach may be required to complete a Working with Vulnerable Persons check subject to where they choose to work as a coach.

ROWING - update from Mr Parsons
WOW, what a couple of weeks and what a great weekend. Congratulations to all our rowers, coaches and supporters. Really good couple of days of competition under testing conditions.
A reminder of a few things.
Firstly, as stated on Sunday the P & F are running the BBQ at the athletics carnival this Thursday and Friday. If we can get parents to help with this then the proceeds can go towards rowing. Please let me know if you can help.
Secondly, if we can get parents to staff the canteen at the Central Queensland Schools Rowing Championships June 24/25 then Bundaberg Rowing Club will give us $1000. This will require 4-6 parents per day. Please let me know if you can help and what times/day will be best.
We want to grow the rowing a little bit for next year but this will require a few more boats which means $$$$$ so we will need all the help we can get with fund raising.
Thirdly, coaches BBQ this Friday afternoon. It would be great to have as many rowers and families there to say thanks to the coaches for all their hard work. Also we will have discussions about rowing on, which coaches are available plus thoughts and ideas for the upcoming CQ schools championships.
I have attached the handbook for the 2016
Q
ueensland schools rowing championship series. Please have a look through it and we can chat on Friday about moving forward.Nominations for the CQ regatta at Bucca on June 24/25 are due by the 15th so we would like this finalised by Monday.

U14 boys – competitive without making the finals
Open Boys – semi-finalists
U16 Boys – semi-finalists
16 Girls – competitive through the preliminary rounds and had a wonderful time
U15 Boys
For the fourth year in a row, these boys, capably coached by Mr Sly, won their age group after a closely contested grand final victory against Gympie SHS (2-1).
Thank you to the following staff who volunteered their time to accompany our futsal teams – Mrs Pearson, Mr Sly, Mr McKenzie and Mr Kersnovske. Finally, thank you to Mr Robinson who continues to support this competition.
Thanks
Mr Collins
AUSTRALIAN FUTSAL REPS - Congratulations
Congratulations to Aidan S and Drew G.
Recently in Spain representing Australian Futsal.
Even though Futsal is not a WBSS or QSS we still recognise this outstanding achievement as we are strong participants in Futsal at a school level.
Aidan Steffan (GK) year 7, and Drew Gordon year 8, have just completed a two and a half week tour of Barcelona representing Australia in the Under 13 boys Futsal team. The boys played extremely well and rose to the occasion along with their fellow Australian teammates. They spent time training with Marcos Angulo, Libyian Men's National team Head Coach, and David Sance, tour leader and highly accomplished Spanish Coach, where they learnt the Spanish Methodology of Futsal. One of the highlights included attending a Barcelona Futsal match at Camp Nou, where the team also visited players in the dressing room prior to the match.
