On the 18th and 19th April, Lateisha Stam and Jacob Crothers both competed at the National Surf lifesaving Championships, held in the Sunshine Coast. The pair both competed in surf rescue events, which tested their skills and knowledge, both mentally and physically.
Lateisha did exceptionally well, placing third in champion lifesaver, which consisted of a 40 question exam, 4 physical events and a live patient assessment and resuscitation. She also medalled in the Patrol competition, her 4 person team placing first in the event. Here her team, competing for U17 Alexandra Headland, completed a 20 question exam, two physical events and again a live patient and resus. Latiesha and her team did exceptionally well in this event, winning first place.
Lateisha was also named a reserve for the Queensland team and she was extremely happy with the results they received.
Jacob Crothers also did an outstanding job in the competition. He competed in both first and and surf rescue, similar events to those Lateisha competed in. Here he placed 5th and 6th in the U17 and U19 team, competing for Maroochydore.
We congratulate Lateisha and Jacob on their efforts, both students did a wonderful job in the championships.
